Being listed means a tool has been researched. nichetool Verified means we'd recommend it to a colleague.

Every tool on Niche Tool has been independently researched before it appears on the site. The nichetool Verified badge is a higher bar — it is our active editorial endorsement. It means the tool is genuinely built for practitioners in this profession, well respected within the industry, and demonstrably does what it claims. All three must be true. None of them can be purchased.

The three criteria

A tool earns the nichetool Verified badge only when every one of the following questions is answered yes. Partial satisfaction does not qualify.

Genuine practitioner fit. The tool is genuinely used by and built for practitioners in this profession — not a general-purpose product loosely applicable to the vertical. We look for tools that were designed with the practitioner's workflow in mind, not retro-fitted with a vertical landing page.
Community respect. The tool is well regarded within the practitioner industry — evidenced by strong community signal in the places professionals actually talk about their work, independent review platform ratings, or endorsement from credible, non-affiliated authority figures in the profession. Vendor marketing does not count. Vendor-affiliated endorsements do not count.
Functional credibility. The tool demonstrably does what it claims. Features are verifiable. Limitations are honestly disclosed. There are no unresolved data integrity gaps in our assessment. A high confidence score in our research output is required.

What does NOT earn this badge

Affiliate commission rate. A tool with a 15% recurring affiliate commission is assessed by exactly the same standard as a tool with no affiliate programme. Higher commission never improves a tool's standing.
Featured listing spend. Vendors may pay to appear in the advertising rail on the right side of the category page. This has no effect on the nichetool Verified badge — or on any other editorial assessment.
Vendor-affiliated endorsements. If an authority figure in a profession has a commercial relationship with the tool they are endorsing, that endorsement is excluded from our community validation scoring. Independence is the standard.
Requesting or negotiating the badge. The badge is granted by editorial assessment alone. It cannot be applied for, requested through our contact form, or negotiated through any commercial relationship with Niche Tool.

The second badge — [Profession] Approved

A second badge, distinct from nichetool Verified, recognises tools that the practitioner community already rates highly across independent platforms. Where nichetool Verified is our endorsement, the [Profession] Approved badge is the industry's endorsement.

It is calculated — not editorially assigned — from independent review platform ratings (G2, Capterra) and practitioner community signal. A tool can qualify with strong community signal even if it has limited review platform presence. A tool with decent review scores but no practitioner community discussion does not automatically qualify.

The two badges are fully independent. A tool may hold one, both, or neither. nichetool Verified does not require [Profession] Approved as a condition, and vice versa.

How badges are maintained

Both badges are reviewed at every re-enrichment cycle. Our monitoring system runs weekly across all live listings — checking pricing accuracy, feature changes, community standing, and lifecycle signals. If a tool's standing changes, the badge is updated accordingly. A nichetool Verified badge that was earned can be removed if the tool no longer meets the standard. There is no grandfathering.
